National cultural heritage No.84 Ko-song folk song (Gyeong-nam province)
Prologue
National cultural heritage is expressed and handed down from the national language and songs. We must preserve folksongs carefully because they have racial spirit, echoes of life and our predecessors¡Çsong is melted with our national thought and emotion.
But our folk song is internal crisis for reception of reckless foreign music and indifference of school education and society which disregarded local music.
Ko-song folksong is one of the best cultural inheritances of Korea. I hope everybody can sing it easily, to uphold great tradition and spirit of Korea.

The farmers have been working very early in the morning and they are so tired and hungry. But lunch is not served as early as they have expected. Lunch comes late What is it late for? Is the kitchen helper counting spoons? Is she seasoning soup with some salt? Is she walking trailing skirt? Is she scuffling feet? Is there at war between the first wife and second? Is she turning at the corner? Come on it is time for lunch |

Ladies sing about sorrow of living with husbands family. It shows the life of plaintive and innocent country ladies in Korea. How my mother treats me. How my mother-in-law treats me. They are too different always. Treat me as your daughter please. If the crystal spring were some wine I would wine and dine my father-in-law. If the fallen leaves were pieces of cake I would invite my mother-in-law. If the shovel stick were a pen I would gift brother-in-law. If the pebbles were some candy I would treat my sister-in-law well. But I have none of them. The sunny day after rain I feel as if I met my mother. The rain cats and dogs after sun I feel as if I met my mother-in-law.
